This was not the first message that I thought I would be posting to you as your new Town Supervisor but nothing is more important than public safety.

I have confirmed with the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office that three houses were burglarized in southern Onondaga County last week: two on Route 91 south of Route 20 within one mile of each other and one on Apulia Road in Lafayette. These were daytime break-ins with no one home. Valuable items were stolen. The Sheriff’s Office is handling these investigations. There have been no arrests at this point. If you have any reason to believe that you have information that would assist them, please call the Sheriff’s Investigative Unit at 315-435-3081.

Everyone should exercise increased vigilance, especially in the affected areas. For those of you with barking dogs, they are definitely a deterrent. If you see anything suspicious, call 911. The nearest patrol car will be dispatched to check it out. And a word of caution: be very careful what you post on social media about the details of a break-in. You don’t want to advertise where you live or what was taken. It might encourage the wrong elements to strike again. I will continue to monitor this situation. Check back to the town website for any updates.

Pompey Town Supervisor

Pompey is a large part of Onondaga County, consisting of 66.5 square miles.  Pompey is the highest inhabited spot in the county. The town offers quiet solitude and spaciousness, natural beauty and a rich historical heritage!  We celebrated our 200th Anniversary in 1994.

There are many recreation locations within the boundaries of our Town, and also some neighboring facilities that are within a short drive. The Pompey Club (private), and there are Onondaga County Parks which provide picnic facilities for both large and small, some cross country skiing, swimming and hiking as well. These are Pratts Falls, with Camp Brockway, Highland Forest Park, and Jamesville Beach. A short drive can also lead you to a choice of three Ski Area facilities; Toggenburg Mountain Winter Sports Center, Labrador Mountain and Song Mountain Resort for some winter fun.
